Finally, we head into Winter, the time of Water Energy, when we rest, look inward, condense, and contain our energy to endure until Spring. Here we focus on our kidneys which control the water in our body and relate to the circulation of bodily fluids like blood.

The kidney helps to purify our bodies and drinking lots of water is critical for ensuring proper kidney function. Although winter is a time of rest this does not mean one should not be active at all. Doing fluid exercises like those found in Qigong and Tai Chi are good to help energy flow through one’s body helping to prevent internal blockages from building up in this less active time of the year.
