The Motivation

The Motivation: Health Through Movement

We are seeking a sound mind in a sound body: a focused mind in a mobile body. To achieve this we must have energy, balance, strong legs, and an aware and calm mind.

We can strive to do this through daily movement. Move toward these goals by committing yourself to changing your lifestyle. One does this by altering one’s daily habits.

Aims

  • Good fluid circulation throughout body
    • Energy and blood out to extremities.
    • Movement in core to improve digestion.
    • Blood and fluids to joints to fight stiffness and arthritis.
  • Stimulation of body parts
    • Break up adhesion in internal organs and fasciae
    • Build energy in core.
  • Warm belly and cool calm mind

When analyzing the effectiveness of our movements during practice, we should refer back to these aims to make certain that at least one of them is being satisfied. If not, then practice differently.

The Theory: Cool Mind and Warm Belly

We want a cool calm mind and a warm belly.

As we age, we evolve into the opposite. Our mind is on fire with preoccupations of the day. Our internal organs lose their fires and their functions slow. We must counteract aging through movement. Sitting on our sofas, we do not move and our organs become a stagnant swamp. We need to reactivate our internal pumps.
